Meet F.WORDS Fembassador Anne Bannert
Anne Bannert was raised in rural Northern Germany. A former gymnast and 90’s fashion model, Anne started vaulting in kindergarten and continued on to take riding lessons wherever she could. Anne is most passionate about dressage, but got introduced to polo while visiting her husband’s family in Argentina. She currently owns two polo ponies that are trained in dressage in-between polo games, a tip she received from one of polo’s greatest players, Carlos Gracida.
Currently residing in Fairfield County, Connecticut, Anne renovated much of the couple’s home with her own hands. This strong, capable woman, athlete, builder and classic fashion model is the definition of doing it all with grace, grit and humor.
The Connecticut property is also home for her horses and a menagerie of animals.
We want to know more about Anne. So we posed these questions:
Q: What is your current frame of mind?
A: My current frame of mind is a form of “constructive peace”. I am trying to use the restrictions that COVID has brought as positively as I can, using my now plentiful free time to get back to routines that had been dear to me in the past but had become crowded out by a busy work and social schedule. I spend all my time at home, doing the usual farm chores, but without the previous pressure to get them done; rather indulging in every step. It’s a form of meditation, I guess. I also make a point of cooking 3 meals a day for my work-from-home husband and me, connecting with the soil that we and our animals live on. We had a full vegetable garden this year, with the help of one of our sons who quarantined with us. COVID is not a positive by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s allowed me to slow down to a more human pace.
Q: What is your most marked characteristic?
A: My most marked characteristic is perhaps perseverance. I relish finishing something I set out to do, and I don’t care how long it takes.
